yesterday wasn’t the greatest day. I woke up to move my car in the garage so I could get the little dudes in the car to get going without havin to hike up the street, and my car had the “low tire pressure” light all lit up. no big deal, right? a tire is low or somethin. so I get the kids in the car, then check the pressure… nothin is too far off, but I put some air in ‘em and get going. light is still on.
I drop off Coop, then head down to the gas station to give the tires a proper air machine filling, not the bicycle pump kind that I did at home. Still, nothing too far off, but put some air in ‘em. feelin good. get into drive… light is still on.
I get over to my parents’ house to drop Charley Bones (aka Charley Finn) off, and I tell my dad about my trials so far. he said, “maybe it’s a slow leak?” so we go out, and sure enough, there’s a nail stuck straight in there on the back right tire. shitty.
so I get goin to work, but decide to go to Costco first and see if they can fix it. Apparently they don’t open until 10am. good for them! so I head up to Costa Mesa, and stop off at the Toyota dealership. The dude there says they can’t fix it cuz the nail is too close to the sidewall.. and they don’t carry the same tire, but a similar replacement would cost $270. shitty. but he recommends that I hit up a “club” type of place, aka costco. good guy, right?
So now after work, I rocket down to Costco and talk to a nice dude who tells me he can’t fix it either, and the tires they have are equally pricey, but I should go to a real-deal tire shop and see if THEY can fix it. Cool.
I head down to Big-O tires in San Clemente. They can’t fix it either, but they have the cheapest tires of the day!! bad news is they have to replace TWO tires for balance purposes. bummer, but understandable. since I have some time on my hands, I head up to El Jefe for some food. it’s a cool lil’ mexican food spot that serves fish and chips too. I walked in with every intention to drink beer and eat fish, but TACO TUESDAY! so I get the potato tacos.. two for $2.50!!! TOO BAD THEY WERE TERRIBLE. boiled, sliced potatoes with too many onions, slopped in a floppy corn tortilla. they both fell apart, and were tasted like salt. to make it even worse, i’m sitting by myself, right in the middle of the room, so I couldn’t exactly ditch the food and take off cuz I still had to pay the bill.
/END OF DAY.
so the next day i’m driving to work, and I ask myself, “did I do something to deserve all this? is karma coming back at me with intent to do damage?” just then, I look to my left, and there’s a car with the back window open, right next to me. inside the window is a little dog with one arm perched on the window sill. he looks straight at me, and nods his head. then I nod my head at him, AND HE NODS RIGHT BACK AT ME. then a plane takes off right across the street at John Wayne airport, and rockets into the sky. and I think, those two EXACT things are shit that I really REALLY, and I mean REALLY dig.
I realize, karma isn’t out to get me, it’s just waiting for the right moments. Life is good.
