the war on the internet, music & the generation gap

this is a great article, based on another article, which is based on another article. I didn’t read all 3… just this one. but it’s a pretty cool ‘discussion’ of how things are going these days with music. I don’t know what the answer is, and i’m not one to judge who is right and wrong, but I am very thankful of my path through the ups + downs of music.

Getting into music pre-internet was key, I guess. Appreciating record stores and the people that work at ‘em… getting mail order catalogs and analyzing the crap outta them… zines…. etc. They were all the pre-computer keys to discovering new music, and shit were they charming. I can’t hate on some teenager that has never bought a physical copy of anything, cuz they don’t have any idea of what it was like before.. and if they do, things are way easier now! 

so if you have a minute… check out this read, and read the articles it references if you’re so inclined. just a good checkup on the times.
